It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of our dear colleague and friend, Stephen Ganade. After a brave and long battle with cancer, Stephen passed away on Friday evening. He was 56 years old and leaves behind his beloved wife Anna, his sweet boys Sven (age 12) and Thor (age 9), as well as many dear family members and friends.
Stephen joined the JUICE production team 8 ½ years ago and quickly impressed his colleagues with his attention to detail, easy-going nature and willingness to pitch in. Over the years, he worked across many important JUICE brands, most recently with the Merck team. He loved his job and had a great appreciation for the support and friendship that his production team members gave him. Stephen had a way of connecting with those around him, resulting in lasting friendships.
Many of you know that Stephen was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer in August of 2018 and although he had one of the most aggressive forms, he well surpassed the expected duration of his original prognosis. Perhaps this was due to his optimism and strength – when his cancer returned this past summer, he told his doctor, “Every day I am alive, I am happier.” The support he received from his family no doubt carried him through, too. In his wife Anna’s words, “He valued more than anything the extra time he got to know his boys and the opportunity to leave them with a legacy of him that they can fall back on.”
If you didn’t a get a chance to work with Stephen, his friends would tell you this: He was a great father, who loved his family dearly and his big smile and contagious laugh made everyone feel at ease. He was a gentle soul and an awesome guy with many interests including martial arts, cooking and spending time in the Catskills with his family. Stephen was always there for his family and friends but never sought out the spotlight. His positive outlook and calm nature made him a joy to work with from his first day at JUICE. The fact that he was able to maintain these qualities even after his cancer diagnosis was nothing short of heroic and inspirational.
A celebration of Stephen’s life will be planned for later in the year. If you wish to contribute something to help this wonderful family, please kindly consider donating.
Stephen will be sorely missed, but his bravery, sense of humor, and kindness will never be forgotten.
