The Galapagos Skateboarding Club needs your help!
Donation protected
We have some exciting updates as we get closer to the Competition!
Some very generous businesses in Galapagos have donated to our project, adding roughly $3000 onto our total.
Thanks to everyone we are getting very close to our goal!!
We have some very excited young skateboarders getting their bags packed for the trip!
Below you can see more about our project.
Imagine being a child with a passion for skateboarding but no place to pursue it. That was the reality for Valentin and Rickie, two young boys from the Galapagos Islands who shared a dream of having a proper skate park in their community.
Growing up, they made do with the lone cement park available, but their dreams of a dedicated space for skateboarding remained unfulfilled. Now, as young men, they refuse to let go of that dream. Despite the council's inaction, Valentin and Rickie took matters into their own hands and founded a skateboarding school for local kids.
With nothing more than determination and a few wooden ramps, they transformed an empty park into a thriving hub of skateboarding culture. Their efforts have not gone unnoticed – some of their students have even gone on to compete in national competitions, proving that talent knows no bounds.
After 5 years of constant use, the wooden ramps are in need of repair, and after all their hard work, the dream of expanding their makeshift skate park into something that can host the grand final for the Ecuador Skateboarding League event in November has come to be!
That's why we're asking for your help. Your donation will not only help repair and build new ramps but also provide opportunities for kids who can't afford classes to join in on the fun and preparation to compete in the big event!

The parents and local community have also stepped in to help create the Galapagos Skateboarding Club and have launched this fundraiser. Every dollar counts in our mission to make skateboarding accessible to all in the Galapagos Islands. Join us in building dreams and empowering our community's youth through the joy of skateboarding.
Together, we can turn their dream of a skate park into a reality.
Please Donate today and help us skate towards a brighter future for the children of the Galapagos Islands!
Your generous donations will be used for
- Building the new ramps, reels and boxes required to allow us to host the 2024 Ecuadorian skateboarding league Finals in November.
- Covering the costs of the monthly skate classes to allow us to offer classes free of charge to the whole Galapagos community.
- Flights for the National competitors. Skateboarding is enjoyed by kids from all walks of life, including many from low socio-economic backgrounds in Ecuador, and while their clubs have done amazing work raising money to get these competitors to the competitions throughout the year on the mainland Ecuador, the cost increases dramatically to come to Galapagos.
The Ecuadorian skateboard league has asked us to help fundraise to be able to give the top 3 competitors in each category some help with buying their tickets to Galapagos.
WHY have the competition in Galapagos at all you ask?
That is a great question! The kids from Galapagos have been traveling to Quito for 3-4 competitions per year for the last 3 years, and winning!!
So the skateboarding league decided that it’s about time they get to compete on home ground. We also have a group who have been unable to participate on the mainland who are greatly looking forward to a Galapagos competition.
This year so far we have had
SUB 10
First and second place.
SUB 18
Second place.
Not bad for a makeshift park on an island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean!
