The GA 400 Runaway Horse- Help Fund Amir’s Surgery

You may have heard about the horse that was racing down the GA 400 fwy after the trailer
fishtailed and tipped over.  Two horses were in the trailer.  Tailor suffered minor injuries, but
Amir was trapped inside the trailer and thrashed around injuring his legs. After being freed by good Samaritan’s, he panicked, and because he is a former race horse he did what he knew to do, which was run.... 

As he bolted down the highway,  we stopped the traffic on the 400 to prevent any further
possible tragedy.

Another Good Samaritan stepped in with his car and they chased Amir down corralling him
and slowly bringing him back to the accident site where he could be safely led over behind the guard rail with Tailor to await for emergency services to pressure wrap his gaping wound on
his leg.

After being evaluated by the wonderful vet, it was recommended that emergency surgery
was needed on his knee for possible bone fragments. He left immediately to U.G.A. for
surgery at 10:30 pm that night.

Amir had emergency Saturday morning and fortunately it was not bone fragments near his
knee joint, but was glass shards. He will most likely make a full recovery after lots of rest and TLC.  However his surgery was costly, so we are raising funds to help cover his medical
expenses.

Thank you to all the rescue workers; The Roswell Police Department, The Milton Fire Department, GDOT, the Good Samaritans, the woman who trailored Amir to UGA in the middle of
the night, the tow truck drivers and all the people who stopped on  the GA 400 freeway to
allow us to safely save these horses..... we cannot thank you all enough.
