The Furner’s

For the Furner family who I hold close to my heart I start this fundraiser during a time where I believe they are in need of help. My friend Emma, her husband Darian, their three boys Freddy, Arlo & Humphrey.

Unfortunately, last year they had to evacuate their family home due to structural issues outside of their control with no option except to demolish. Their insurance company are not willing to cover the cost to rebuild their family home.

Since evacuating their home they unfortunately have another uncontrollable obstacle to tackle. Two months ago Darian was in Papua New Guinea for work and called Emma to tell her he had a bleed on the brain. After a medevac back to Australia, weeks of waiting, testing, appointments with specialists and 4 hospitals later, the head neurosurgeon at Royal North Shore discovered a unique type of brain tumour. Pretty quickly after, they had a team of amazing doctors and professors advising what they believe to be an Ependymoma.

Darian and Emma now have to rebuild their home, deal with this medical emergency and support their beautiful three boys, all while being uncertain whether he will be able to return to his dream job as an NRL referee in the future.

This puts great emotional and financial pressure on their beautiful family of 5.

I can’t express how important it is in times like these where support from family, friends, loved ones and the community means the world.
