The Full Monty Cancellation Costs

Donation protected
WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT

As you are all well aware by now with the ongoing situation of the Corona Virus, we had to cancel our production of The Full Monty at the Theatre Royal Waterford. While the emotional hurt can be overcome, the financial hit isn’t so easy to fix. If you booked a ticket, or had intended doing so, you could choose to donate your refund to the society through the donation page that has been set up. Unfortunately, this has left us in a very embarrassing and heartbroken situation. The amount of money now owed is up in the very high thousands. As I have no committee, financial backing, local grants or sponsorship behind this, we were literally relying on box office to pay all our team and bills that come with staging such a big production. I personally don’t mind taking the hit. But there are people involved who still need to be paid no matter what. We tried everything to re-schedule but just can’t get any dates that we could possibly go ahead with. We now need to set up a donation page and try reach out to the public for any help. I know there’s lots of people in difficult situations, and the knock - on effect will hit people hard over the next few weeks, but anyone involved on the production side of this show are self-employed and they are the most vulnerable at the moment. I want to stress this is not for me. My Stage School is also now closed until the end of March so I can’t use any income from there to pay these people. I have personally given so much to The Arts in Waterford for over 25 years and never asked for anything in return. I’ve lost so much on projects over the years but always found a way through this on my own. All I ever wanted was to entertain people all over the country and help others out along the way. I’m now in the most difficult stage of my career and not sure if I can ever do anything again. The stage school will be another matter once we get some clearance from our government. The overheads of running such a business are massive and this situation will have a massive impact on my work and personal life. I’m very upset and embarrassed to post this and to have to take this route, but don’t see any other way out at the moment. I wish to stress again, I realise there are many, many self - employed people now in situations where they have many things being cancelled and will have zero income coming in over the next while, and I along with them will have zero income and all the bills, except on top of that I have huge costs to pay and people are already contacting me for money, so I am pleading for help. I thank everyone for the kind words and messages I’ve received so far. It’s in these dark times that you need support, so a genuine heartfelt thank you to you all.
