Is this a new episode of Jordan Peele’s Twilight Zone?

It’s a very weird time around the world. We’re all in this unprecedented situation that will take everything we have together to make it through. It will take every single one of us, working together.

My intentions behind my photographs are to connect people. I love connecting with my subjects while photographing them and I love connecting others with my subjects through the medium of my photographs. I’ve missed shooting portraits terribly during this time.

That’s why when I heard about the Front Steps Project launched by Cara Soulia in Needham, MA, I knew I had to get involved and do my own take on this wonderful idea.

The Front Steps Project is an incredible project that involves a professional photographer travelling around town and photographing families in front of their house. These photographs have the power to document this crazy time and to connect the world through imagery.

I like to think of these photos as the digital equivalent of heading to the store and seeing someone you know. Stop and say hello. How’s the kids?

In exchange for a high quality digital photograph, I ask that you make a good faith donation to South Shore Health System through the GoFundMe setup for this project. The South Shore Health System is an incredible organization working on the front lines against Coronavirus

I will be posting these images on Facebook and Instagram using the hashtag #thefrontstepsproject.  Please share these posts. Let’s spread the word!

All photographs will be taken outside from a distance of at least 10 feet away. These photos will not take more than 5 minutes. To quote Cara from her page: “This is not a typical get-dressed-up-and-pose-for-the-photographer session. Want to stand outside in your pajamas and slippers? Sounds good to me. Kids in mismatched clothes but you’re thrilled they got dressed? Fantastic. Wearing your bike gear because you’re headed off to ride a trail in the nice weather? Love it!  Be you.”
