The friends of Deirdre

A very dear friend to many of us could really use your help! Given that she is an extremely proud and independent woman who wouldn’t ask for help, a few of us have banded together to do so on her behalf. Until a few years ago she was very healthy doing an amazing job of making a difference in our world by helping others as a Nurse Practitioner. At that time she underwent a surgery which was very badly botched by her doctors leaving her with severe nerve damage. She is now unable to work - doing the work she used to perform so passionately and professionally - resulting in her being in a fair amount of debt, a position she could never have imagined. As she has fought to try and regain her strength, she has taken the time to write approximately 300 pieces of very powerful poetry which she plans to have published with the hope of helping others who are suffering through their own personal trauma.

All funding raised through your generosity will be put towards, hopefully, the elimination of her debts and to have her poetry published. Our goal is to raise $30,000

She is a fierce warrior who refuses to give up and is a wonderfully caring person. Her goal is to “give back” to others through her writings by being honest and open about her struggles and to help minimize the shame which others in a similar position may be feeling, preventing these trauma survivors from contributing to and thriving in our society.
