The Fried Egg Project
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Emma and I’m fundraising for my friend Lana who is in the process of undergoing medical investigation and treatment for fertility issues.
Lana has come up against some tough fertility issues in recent months. Despite not being at a time in her life where she is actively trying to start a family, she has already undergone a gruelling egg retrieval process after learning that her body’s ability to produce eggs was compromised. Doctors have warned Lana that if she doesn’t act now, her chances of conceiving in the future are seriously reduced.
So many women grow up thinking they’ll have a baby one day but for so many, the process is difficult, heartbreaking and expensive.
After a very costly, scary, lonely and frustrating few weeks injecting herself with hormones, Lana’s specialist was only able to retrieve 3 eggs, all of which were poor quality. He has now advised she needs to undergo exploratory surgery to investigate her reproductive health further and then go through egg retrieval again.
Lana is a vet who has spent the last 7 years of her career working to provide care and support for her patients and their owners. She is currently studying a masters in education so she can become a secondary school teacher - two careers built on looking after others. Health insurance and Medicare services cover very little when it comes to fertility and reproductive health issues and these future babies are proving to be cripplingly expensive. With over $10,000 already spent, there’s still a long way to go.
Everyone needs help sometimes and this time it’s all about us helping Lana through this experience!
Please chip in what you can. I know there’s so many people out there going through similar journeys. Lana is very special and deserves the chance to one day bring another little piece of herself into the world.
Thank you, and sending lots of love to all of you.
