The Frenchie Who Helped a Cancer Warrior Now Needs Your Help

Help Sweet Chunk, The Emotional Support Frenchie Who Helped a Cancer Warrior Heal

Zoee Foster was just fourteen when she was diagnosed with B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in August 2023.

During her two-year battle, she faced terrifying complications, including septic shock that led to brain abscesses, hydrocephalus, and a shunt placement to drain fluid from her ventricles. She spent nearly 100 days in the hospital, fighting for her life and relearning how to walk, talk, and write.

In March 2024, Chunk came into Zoee’s life, a bright, wiggly French Bulldog puppy donated through our foundation.

From the moment they met, Chunk became her heart dog. He lifted her spirits, made her laugh, and gave her something joyful to hold onto through the pain of treatment and recovery. Zoee often says she cannot imagine having gone through cancer without him by her side.

Now, Chunk is the one who needs help.

Chunk’s issues began in the summer of 2024 and were mostly resolved until the summer of 2025, when his health declined rapidly. After numerous emergency and routine veterinary visits, we finally arrived at the University of Florida Small Animal Hospital, where we received the correct diagnosis.

On Wednesday, October 29th, Chunk underwent surgery at the University of Florida Small Animal Hospital to correct his palate, open his nares, and remove the saccules that were blocking his airway. It has been a bumpy, expensive, and emotional few months, but this week it finally came to an end after Chunk received the surgery he truly needed.

Because our nonprofit is still growing and funds are not yet available, both Zoee’s family (the Fosters) and I (Tari Pacifico, founder) had to cover all costs out of pocket. The financial strain on two pediatric cancer families already rebuilding their lives has been overwhelming, but we are determined to make sure Chunk receives every bit of care he needs to stay healthy and continue supporting Zoee through her final stages of recovery.

When Chunk fell ill, it broke our hearts. Helping cover his medical costs means protecting the bond that helped a child survive cancer and ensuring that Zoee’s best friend continues to thrive.

Zoee is preparing to complete her last chemotherapy treatment on December 14, 2025, and she will ring the bell at Nemours Children’s Health in Jacksonville to celebrate the end of treatment, with Chunk right by her side, where he belongs.

Your Donation Will Help Cover:

Emergency and ongoing veterinary bills for Chunk’s treatment

Lost wages and travel costs for multiple hospital visits

Recovery supplies, including medications, dog stairs, and a car seat

Where Donations Will Go:

To maintain full transparency, our board members will personally review all receipts, verify totals, and distribute funds accordingly.

Estimated reimbursements (that will change once calculations are final):

Foster Family: $1,361.35 (past unpaid percentage of medical bills + travel)

Pacifico Family: $3,615.23 (past unpaid percentage of medical bills, current estimated percentage of $5,730.00 to UF Small Animal Hospital, travel, and lost wages)

Total: $4,976.58

Any remaining funds will remain in the Grey’s Superhero Foundation account to cover Chunk’s ongoing care.

The Heart Behind the Mission

Grey’s Superhero Foundation, Inc. was created in January 2024, inspired by Greyson Pacifico’s experience with his own cancer support Frenchie, Chip.

Grey was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive brain cancer the month after he turned twelve years old. Through countless hospital stays and chemotherapy sessions, his donated support Frenchie, Chip, became his source of courage and hope. Out of that bond, Grey dreamed of giving other children the same kind of healing connection that helped him through his fight, and that dream became our foundation.

Now, through stories like Zoee and Chunk’s, that mission continues. Your kindness keeps our vision alive, one healing friendship at a time.
