Empowering young minds in Floresta, Brazil, through education—honoring the legacy of Dr. Francisco M. Ferraz
The Francisco Marconi Ferraz Memorial Scholarship honors the life and legacy of Dr. Francisco M. Ferraz (1951–2025), a distinguished neurosurgeon, devoted father, and beloved family member.
Born and raised in Floresta, Pernambuco, Brazil, Francisco’s family instilled in him a deep belief in the power of education. With their encouragement and his own determination, he rose from humble circumstances to saving lives as a neurosurgeon in the United States. Throughout his career, he remained profoundly grateful for the opportunities education had given him—and committed to sharing those opportunities with others.
In 2017, he returned to Floresta with his two daughters, his first visit since leaving as a young man—a homecoming that deepened his wish to give back to his community.
This fund supports students from Floresta who show exceptional promise, dedication, and curiosity, especially in the medical sciences. Through it, Dr. Ferraz’s legacy will continue to inspire hope and possibility—empowering young students in his hometown to further their education, broaden their horizons, transform their futures, and embrace the values of hard work and service that guided his own life.
