Hello, my name is Essam Nagy with First Tree Art Production. The filming of the documentary took place in late April/beginning of May 2021 in Goris, Kapan, Yerevan, and many more. “The forgotten Homeland”, is a documentary about the life at the borders between Armenia and Azerbaijan, documenting stories and life accounts of refugees who are currently living there, those who were uprooted from their historical lands in Artsakh and now living in Goris (An Armenian city in Syunik County that after the war becomes bordering Azerbaijan) and its suburbs.
Background Context
In September 2020, a war was waged by the Azerbaijani army against Armenian lands in Artsakh/Nagorno-Karabagh in a bloody offensive that lasted for 44 days, leaving behind thousands of deaths, tens of thousands of displaced, widowed, and orphaned Armenians. “The forgotten Homeland” is casting light on the resilience of the Armenian people, the hope they carry in their hearts, and their will to survive despite all the hardships they endured throughout their entire history that is filled with oppression and discrimination.
Postproduction needs and fundraising:
* The projected budget is around $75,000.
* Twenty thousand dollars were raised so far, with your generous contributions, we will be able to cover the costs of the production-related items that are urgent for the film to be finished.
Why now?
This documentary is made right now out of urgency, to document the situation and the current moment at the borders before things change.
Part of the proceedings of this documentary screenings will be directed to the families who were affected by the 2020 war, and a dedicated website will be constructed for this reason upon the release of the film, mainly to invest in improving the quality of life and education of the refugee children.
Thank you in advance.
