The Forget-Me-Not Delivery Suite At Royal Stoke
Myself and my partner (Jin) were over the moon to find out we were expecting our first baby on the 20th November 2023. We nervously / excitedly waited for our 12 week scan when got to see our beautiful baby on screen for the first time - so perfect. We shared our exciting news with family and friends and began buying a few items for our little one and planned how we would decorate the nursery. We were both so happy and grateful to become parents.
On the 13th March our lives were turned upside down when we went for our routine 20 week scan to be told that our baby's heartbeat could sadly no longer be detected.
The following day myself and Jin arrived at the Forget-Me-Not delivery suite at the Royal Stoke. From the moment we arrived we were treated with the utmost care and support by the most amazing team of professionals. I was induced that afternoon and gave birth to our beautiful baby girl on 14/03/24 at 19.05hrs (20 weeks and 4 days). We named our sleeping angel Sofia Lilly Kaur Sandhu
We spent 3 days in the Forget-Me-Not suite during which time we were given the best support and visited on multiple occasions by the lovely bereavement Midwives. We were given the opportunity to spend time with Sofia who was safely tucked up in her cuddle cot. She had the most beautiful face I have ever seen and perfect little hands and feet. I was able to sing her a lullaby as I had dreamed of doing for so long and then me and Jin were able to say our goodbyes for now to our little baby girl. When we left hospital we received a wonderful memory box that contained a memory bear, printings of her hands and feet, pictures of Sofia and other keepsakes that we will always cherish. We will forever be grateful for this.
On the 28th July 2024 on what would have been Sofia's due date I will be running the San Francisco Marathon and Jin the San Francisco Half Marathon in order to raise money for the invaluable Forget-Me-Not delivery suite. We also want to raise awareness for baby loss. Many people go through this heartbreaking loss every day - most sadly do not or cannot talk about their experiences which can be even more damaging. The chances are that somebody you know has gone through this maybe your partner, mother, sister, daughter, friend. If you're reading this and have suffered loss please know that you are not alone and there is help and support out there ❤️
Any donations big or small can all make a difference. Thank you for taking the time to read our story,
Kaylie and Jin ❤️
