The Ford W. Savela Legacy of Kindness Scholarship

Ford was a kind, compassionate, intelligent, and loving person who passed away after a hit-and-run car collision on January 7, 2025. At just 18 years old and a senior at Mira Costa High School, he always had a smile on his face and a knack for making people laugh with his silly and joyful ways. Dedicated to making a positive impact, Ford was deeply passionate about serving his community. He was an active member of the Beach Cities Health District’s Youth Advisory Council, a youth-led group focused on promoting the health and well-being of their peers. Growing up in Manhattan Beach and forging strong connections with his community and friends, Ford would have wanted to leave a lasting mark on the world by helping others. His spirit and values continue to inspire others to contribute to a more compassionate and caring world.

The Ford W. Savela Legacy of Kindness Scholarship honors Ford's memory and his love for family and friends by supporting students who embody his core values of kindness, empathy, high character, and community involvement.
