The First PA Ken Ferrell, Duke Class of 1967
Donation protected
Kenneth Ferrell is the first PA in the world, and the only living PA from the first graduating class. He graduated from Duke University on October 6, 1967. Ken was a US Navy corpsmen and was handpicked by Dr. Eugene Stead.
Ken wrote the first code of conduct for the AAPA. He is the longest living PA in the world - 55 years!
Ken recently underwent surgery that has put him financially in a difficult position. He is not complaining. He has gratitude and trusts God will provide.
Here is what he told me:
"This is such an amazing blessing!! [Regarding this GoFundMe page.] If anyone wants to know more about my financial situation, please tell them I was doing okay as long as I could supplement my retirement by working with an Alzheimer's patient. The problem started last year when I became unable to work because of my back. Thank you so much for all you are doing to help me!!" (He had surgery and the expenses drained his savings.)
Let's please show some gratitude and service towards the Godfather of our profession that is having hard times.
Even a dollar will help.
Please pass this on to every PA you know.
Here is some additional details about Ken. Note the moment when he gets emotional and why his career ended as it did:

Due to the innovation of the NCCPA, this wouldn't happen today. Thank you Dawn and NCCPA for making the changes to our profession.
