Hello!
My name is Andrew Huggins, and I'm making my first original feature film this summer. I have a degree in filmmaking and video production and have been making narrative films for over ten years. My work has been selected at over five hundred legitimate film festivals with diverse juries and live screenings. We've won over one hundred and fifty awards at these festivals, and we've garnered awards in almost every category, from best screenwriting, best directing, best cinematography, best editing, and acting awards. My short film, Armor, won the grand prize at the Engage Art contest in 2019, I won Filmmaker of the Year given by the Carolina Film Community in 2022, and my work has screened in almost every state in the U.S. Additionally, two of my short films were selected by Film Shortage. I've directed almost forty short films and one feature that secured a distribution deal the same day it was submitted to the distributor for consideration. I've written over twenty short films and have worked as the cinematographer on almost fifty films, including seven features. Filmmaking is my ultimate passion. I've been writing stories since I was seven years old, and this film, Revelator, is the culmination of what I've learned as a storyteller throughout my entire life. I've grown as a filmmaker while working on almost one hundred individual projects over the past ten years. I'm ready to take the step as a director in making this film and sharing what I and my team are capable of creating to larger audiences worldwide.
Revelator tells the story of a thirteen year old boy in a small, southern town who is impoverished, oppressed, and is a parallel to savior figures in various religious texts. He forms a friendship with a girl his age that gives him hope for a clearer future. Surrounding their story, six other stories take place, with themes of religion, familial trust and restrained love, drug addiction, longing for escape, bullying, physical and mental abuse of power, and the dangers of conspiracy theorists and their ability to incite fear amongst their followers. There's also a science fiction element to this story, with beings from another universe traveling to Earth in an attempt to save their world. Revelator is part of an informal trilogy of films that each take place in isolated, derelict southern locations. The other two films in this trilogy are short films I've made within the last six years, Soul Bones and Cabarrus. Combined, these films screened at almost one hundred film festivals and won almost thirty awards.
I am located in Charlotte, North Carolina, and have enlisted the finest local cast and crew to work on this film. Almost the entirety of what we raise will go to paying them for their work on Revelator. The remainder of the funds will go to food, location fees, props and wardrobe. I've been working my way toward making my first original feature film for many years, and your donations will help me and the Revelator team share this story with audiences worldwide. Our primary crew consists of Trey Riley, Jonathan Smathers, Yair Guevara, Jordan Ellis, and Bryan Archilla. Award winning composer Alexander Arntzen will be creating the score.
Some of the key cast:
Kyle Riggs, Zach Ball, Celeste Allen Marcone, Torri Tillman, Chantey Colet, Caitlin Kresse, David Garrett, Arika Nash, James Roseman, John Sexton, and Mike Reda.
My ultimate creative goal is for this film to create strong, emotional responses from each audience member and to spur dialogues about the film's themes and characters for years to come. My business goal is to secure a distribution deal and release the film nationally and internationally.
Every single person that donates, no matter how great or small the donation, will receive a "THANK YOU" credit in the film and will be mailed a Blu-Ray copy of the film once post-production is finished. If you donate at least $100, we'll credit you as a producer in the film. If you donate $500, you'll be given a percentage of whatever the film makes once it's released and an executive producer credit. If you'd like to donate an even larger figure, you'll receive a significant percentage of the film's profits, an executive producer credit, and creative input on how the film is produced.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. I've been truly blessed the past ten years while making films to have the support of so many of the filmmaking community in the Carolinas. This script is my calling card for pushing my work even further into the world, and it means everything to me to have the love and support of so many of you.
