The first Cat Cafe on Maui
Aloha, my name is Moriah Diamond and I am opening the first Cat Café on Maui and will support the Maui Cat Rescue nonprofit organization. Like hanging out with cats?
At a cat café, you can hang out with adoptable cats, in a warm inviting atmosphere in central Wailuku, sip a cup of coffee or tea, and enjoy our local-baked cookies or treats.
It is a big foster home, where we partner with local shelters, make sure the cats are getting loving treatment all day, take care of them, and get them adopted. We take in cats from all over give people a fun chance to meet them and give them a chance they might not otherwise have.
The cats get to meet people and socialize. The experience of hanging out with cats lets you meet our friends and know their personalities. Sometimes we can even do some match-making! We enjoy having conversations, and sometimes we can find a cat whose personality is just right for you. You might even find your new best friend. Come fall in love!
This will be a for-profit business, and we hope to assist the shelters and have a big impact on the cat community on Maui. There will be a clean modern comfortable enclosed space to hang out with the cats, and you will also sometimes see them lounging near the window. We will also have lots of cool merchandise (cat-oriented of course!) that makes for great gifts and helps us keep our doors open.
We are aiming to open this business in a couple of months (June 2022) but may take longer. We are in a process of signing a contract for a space in Kahului and the fundraiser is to help cover start-up costs, so let us know how you want to help!
