Updated 3/31/23- Hello all! Kristen continues care at City of Hope in LA and KU for stage 4 colorectal cancer and is kicking ass! She has completed step 1 of 3 toward the goal of surgery to remove all cancerous lesions, most of which are in her right liver lobe. She will have most of that lobe excised, and radiation to the primary rectal tumor which will require a temporary ileostomy. Surgery will also include the removal of 4-5 pelvic lymph nodes. All of this will be done at City of Hope, very far from home.
Kristen has had nine cycles of a highly toxic chemotherapy regimen and we aren’t sure yet how many total cycles will be given. Needless to say, the expenses outside of medical bills are piling up, and the travel to and from LA will be a huge expense! We (me, Kristen, Pete, and Sully) expect to be in LA for 4-5 weeks for radiation, surgery, and a week of recovery at “home.” Any help with these travel costs is beyond appreciated.
