I'm fundraising to cover funeral expenses of my 18 year old nephew, Victor aka VJ.

VJ was the twin to his sister Victoria who passed away in July 2019, who were both born with the sickle cell disease and for those who know this disease, will know the pain and challenges it comes with. From the sickle cell crisis, the sleepless nights, the back2back hospital admissions, the random nose bleeds, the chronic joint pains, the random loss of consciousness and the list goes on...

One of VJ's greatest wishes was to live a sickle-cell free life, which he did to the fullest for 2 amazing years following a successful bone marrow transplant in 2023, 4 years after losing his twin sister.

Victor was admitted into hospital for viral meningitis & encephalitis, to which he was responding well to the treatment, however, the side effects of the medication compromised his bone marrow which ultimately made him susceptible to other infections, which was later found to be Trichosporon but by this time the fungal infection had already spread to the lungs which caused restriction to respiratory functions/system. An aggressive treatment was applied but by this time it was already too late as his cells had already begun to shut down leading to his heart ultimately stop beating at 9pm on Saturday 4th of October 2025.

We’ve set a goal of £18,000 to help cover funeral costs and expenses in order to give VJ a beautiful final send off as he goes to meet his twin sister and to support the family through this difficult time.
