Help # 1 Sister, Mother, & Wife Beat Colon Cancer
Donation protected

March 6, 2020, is when Fatima went to the emergency room for abdominal pain. The colonoscopy determined there was an obstruction in the descending colon and the mass found was a tumor. The biopsy, unfortunately, revealed that it was cancerous and the somatic mutation genes found in the biopsy were CDK2, KRAS, RNF43, & TP53. The pathological report revealed that it is stage IIIB (3B) Colon Cancer.
Fatima has been following the treatment recommended by her oncologist at MD Anderson and is currently undergoing chemo. She gets the chemo through her Medi-port and the drug given is Oxaliplatin (shown in a picture above). Her regimen at home consists of three chemo pills in the morning and four chemo pills at night (Xeloda), which she struggles to keep down. She does this for two weeks after a session of IV Chemo.
She recently had her third round of chemo, which started June 18th. The chemo has changed our sister's life. She's always tired, barely eats or drinks, can't tolerate cold temperatures, always nauseous and has really bad stomach pain. With each IV chemo, she experiences debilitating side effects. She's experiencing neuropathy in her hands and feet which make it difficult to walk, touch, or hold anything. She shared that it feels like stabbing sensations in her feet and hands making it difficult to do things we take for granted like combing and fixing her daughter's hair. She's always done for others and it's so difficult seeing Fatima like this.
Because chemo has severely deteriorated her health and what she can physically do, we are raising money for Fatima to receive alternative treatment (antineoplaston therapy). The funds are needed to cover the cost of the monthly charges and medications which total 24,000$ a month. Fatima will require a minimum of four months treatment and we are hopeful that we can raise the funds needed to start treatment before she gets any weaker and gives up on the thought of getting better.
Other ways to help are just positivity on social media: spreading the word, encouraging Fatima to keep fighting and spreading pictures of support with #1SMWBCC (Number 1 Sister Mother Wife Beat Colon Cancer)! Also, if anyone knows home remedies that will help with the side effects she's experiencing, please share them.
I just want to let everyone know who Fatima is to me. She's my older sister and my second mom. She took care of me since I was a baby: always made sure I was okay and always stood up for me. She is the best sister anyone could ask for. She created an opportunity for me when my only choices weren't good options. She's always been so selfless, she's been the perfect role model of how to genuinely care, smile, and act for others. Please help me ensure she does not quit trying to get better!
