The Fight Continues - Join Alex & the Stewie Slayers

In February 2021, Alex was diagnosed with brain cancer that changed his life—and ours—forever. Since that day, he has faced every challenge with strength, courage, and relentless determination. With the incredible support of family, friends, and his deeply dedicated and compassionate neuro-oncology team at Mayo Clinic—who have become an important part of our lives—Alex has continued the fight with hope and resilience.

Early in the cancer journey, Alex and Alex’s nieces, Ellie and Lydia, lovingly named his tumor “Stewie”—a small act that brought light and laughter during an otherwise overwhelming time. In honor of that spirit, our team will proudly walk as the Stewie Slayers in the Brains Together annual event—fighting back with love, strength, and purpose.

Alex has participated in numerous research studies at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester—helping not only to advance his own care, but also to improve outcomes for others facing this disease. His courage fuels a broader mission: to support research that brings us closer to a cure.

This year, we walk and run to honor Alex—and to support critical brain tumor research.

We are proudly fundraising for Brains Together for a Cure, a nonprofit organization that directly supports Mayo Clinic’s brain tumor research.
