Hi, my name is Justin and I'm an Elementary Physical Education Teacher at George Mason Elementary School in Alexandria, Virginia. Unlike most PE Teachers, my goal for my students is very different than the normal Fitnessgram or Sports program.
My goal is to have EVERY one of my students find at least ONE form of physical activity that they can enjoy, no matter what that is! In a time when sedentary activities are becoming increasingly popular, I take my responsibility very serious in fostering a love for movement in my PE Program!
So how do I achieve my goal? Simple. By going ALL OUT any time thatI’m presented with an opportunity to make a lasting impact on my kids’ experience in elementary school.
And annually, that opportunity comes in the form of Field Day! I want a Field Day that I'm apart of to be the lasting memory that my kids will talk about when they are 20, 30, even 40 years removed from my program!
This year is different though...this is the final year that we are going to be in our current building. In fact, we are moving across town where our students will be bussed over in to a converted office building for the next couple of years. So this year, I'm trying to go out with a bang! Over the last few years, thanks to this Fundraiser, I've been able to bring an Inflatable Obstacle Course and a 30 foot Inflatable Soccer Dart Board! So this year I want to make it incredible as we say 'goodbye' to our building!
So what does your donation go toward? Every dollar donated will be spent on making this year’s Field Day epic. At minimum, I want to rent the Inflatable Obstacle Course and the 30-foot Inflatable Soccer Dart Board, but why stop there? I’m envisioning Splash Stations, popsicles, treats and literally anything you can imagine to make Field Day something these students can talk about for the rest of their lives!
Something I learned this year is that it doesn’t matter where they live, who they are, who their parents…the only thing that matters is that students have a positive experience and can find something to love, not only in PE but in school as a whole.
Thank you for your consideration!
Sincerely,
Justin
