uplift Black voices in Canadian film!!
A black photographer discovers the white woman he is sleeping with is a right-wing political commentator.
The Fetishization of One Victor Mohdee is a passion project by a group of BIPOC creatives who believe in the power of Black storytelling. We believe anti-racism is practiced by dedicating time, energy and spirit to uplifting Black voices. Through making this film, and by sharing it with our community, our goal is to create a greater understanding of the nuances and the complexity of Black lives. The heart of our project is Shayn Walker , an actor and writer originally from Alberta who has made Vancouver home for the past eight years. Observing the resurgence of the Black Lives Matter movement this past June sparked the idea for this script. Deeply linked to his personal experience as a light-skinned Black man, The Victor Project explores the relationship between sexual fetishization and race politics. Where Are Your Contributions Going?
Doing the most with the least - that is the ethos of indie film making. We will be stretching your dollars as far as they can go to bring this story to life on November 13-15. You are helping us avoid a 4-6 month timeline to apply for grants, enabling us to potentially do a festival run in 2021. Your donations will cover:
1. CAMERA & LIGHTING GEAR
2. CATERING, or ‘crafty’ as it’s known in the industry; keeping cast and crew happy, healthy and well-fed is one of our main priorities!
3. COVID SAFETY, including PPE, sanitizer and other equipment to ensure the health and safety of our cast and crew
4. INSURANCE, in case of unforeseen circumstances (as if 2020 could shock us even further...no wait but it actually could!!)
5. TRAVEL & ACCOMMODATION, for our Director Kristen Johnson who is based in Calgary; it was critical for Shayn to find a Black director to bring his script to life, and after a thorough search we were unable to connect with any viable or affordable options in Vancouver. Your donations will enable Kristen to travel to and stay safely in Vancouver.Director, Kristen Johnson
What will you receive in return?
You will receive a shout-out in the credits and special behind-the-scenes content from our fire crew of cool humans. Do you have a favourite song? We'll sing it for you acapella on our lunch break!! Favourite TikTok dance?? Shayn will bust it out between takes!! We draw the line at pantsing our Producer Perry though...c'mon we're trying to stay COVID safe over here!!

We recognize 2020 has been extremely challenging for many people, and not all have the financial resources to donate. That’s ok! Leave us some words of encouragement and share this with others who are passionate about uplifting Black voices. A donation of even $20 will carry us a long way.
