The Fern Fund 2025

The Fern's Fund honors Queen Fern Thomas' legacy and continues her work providing Black and Brown youth opportunities to flourish outside the inner city. Martha's Vineyard has played a significant part in not only creating lasting bonds but helping students to realize the importance of getting out of their comfort zone and connecting with those who are from different walks of life in a way that is not always possible in the inner-city neighborhoods our youth reside in.

During our long-standing Battle in the Bluffs (BITB) summer experiential program on Martha's Vineyard, we have seen the positive impact place, and sports-based youth development has on youth; especially for the young ladies who are given equal footing both on and off the court in their time on the Vineyard.
