Maria Medina began working at KPIX 5 in March 2015.   Maria reports and anchors the KPIX 5 Weekend Early Edition.  On Sunday mornings, Maria joins Phil Matier on the anchor desk, getting in-depth interviews with the Bay Area’s state and congressional representatives and other major news makers.

Recently, Maria suffered the tragic death of her youngest son.  I have been a paramedic for 37 years, working for the San Francisco Fire Department and cannot imagine how to share with you the pain a mother feels when she loses her son.

I have known Maria for over ten years as a professional acquaintance and also as a truly good friend.  Maria has always portrayed the public safety professionals of the Police Sector and the Fire Department sector in a positive light.  Maria has given of her free time to volunteer as a Mistress of Ceremonies for many of the Department Fundraisers in the Bay Area.

All the money raised in this Go Fund Me account will go directly to Maria Medina so that she may use the funds as she needs.  After such a tragic loss, food deliveries to the family, transportation costs of extended family to come to support Maria are examples of how these funds can help.
