The Family of Kevin Smithson
Donation protected
Who is Kevin Wayne Smithson?
Well, let us tell you, as he left us way too early due to a tragic hunting trip in the Idaho Panhandle. Kevin only had 46 years on this earth.
Kevin was the ultimate family man. He left behind five children…all young men, with the youngest being his little girl. His wife Halee was always the one to support and nurture the Smithson family. The matriarch must now become the father and mother of this mourning family.
What can you and others do? Donate, just simply donate. If not with this outreach, then your time would also be highly valued. Every cent will go towards what the family needs in the short term and long term, depending on the amount received. The Smithson’s did not ask for this GoFundMe effort, rather some of his friends and family thought it may help as they make preparations to lay Kevin to rest. With so many family and friends, Kevin will have a service in Rathdrum, ID and then in Thatcher, AZ for his final resting place.
With his children ranging from ages 6 to 19, you can only imagine the emotional toll and needed help to ensure they are taken care of by any additional means you can provide.
Kevin was also a Signal Supervisor for BNSF Railway that worked his way thru the ranks, only wishing to lead his fellow colleagues to success. His leadership impacted so many people. It’s rare to find someone who starts as an Assistant Signalman then excels thru Signalman, Signal Maintainer, and then a Signal Inspector so quickly. He chose to become a Signal Supervisor to mentor and teach others, paying it forward, from his valued mentor, Terry Brooks. He was sought out system-wide on a variety of issues and was given respect for his ideas. We cannot think of anyone else that was as passionate about a craft and gave unselfishly for the betterment of the railroad and its safety.
In terms of his hobby of hunting, Kevin was a true sportsman. He learned from an early age and always planned his time off to hunt, teach his kids properly, and was getting his youngest daughter involved too. He was a provider in many ways, but his family was always at the center.
