On Monday, April 10th, Jim Fallon woke early and started the coffee. When Jeri awoke before the kids, she went to wake Jim, who seemed to have dozed off in the lounger. He was not sleeping. It was later determined that he had died from a heart attack. He was 47 years old. He leaves his wife, Jeri, and his three children: Liam (16), Rhiannon (13). and Aidan (11).
Jim was by all accounts a beloved friend, and leaves behind a lot of stories by people who all seem to have been "new" somewhere, who were befriended and helped by Jim.
He worked very hard for his family. Jim spent a substantial amount of time commuting every workday so Jeri could sit at home and eat bon-bons. Just seeing if you were still paying attention. Having one parent at home full-time would turn out to be a necessity when first Aidan was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, and then Rhiannon with Crohn's Disease. Attending to the kids' serious chronic illnesses did not leave Jeri or Jim with much in the way of extra time, sleep, or resources.
When Jim unexpectedly lost his job, it was a blow to the whole family. Jim was still working hard to find employment when he died. The contributions made thus far have helped immeasurably. In asking Jeri what we could do to help, there was one particular area of concern that came up: Jim's car. Jim bought it to have reliable transportation for his long commute. Jeri says it truly is reliable, and necessary, but the monthly payment is a pretty good piece of the monthly budget. She would like to be able to pay it off as quickly as possible.
