The Family of David Allan Scholl

Trajedy struck David Alan Scholl on May 27th, 2023. While participating with friends in a Memorial Weekend fundraiser ride for Wounded Warrior Project, David was involved in a crash that took his life. David and Tammy, his wife of almost 25 years, were unexpectedly terminated from their employment in 2022, forcing them to make tough sacrifices. One of those being life insurance. Now they are in need of the support of the community they have dedicated their lives in service of.
Their story began 34 years ago. David and Tammy first met while he was still on active duty with the U.S. Army. They were introduced by mutual friends. David's attempt to woo Tammy failed because she is hearing impaired and he did not speak American Sign Language, nor understand the deaf culture. David set his ego aside and spent the next year secretly learning ASL at SVSU with the plan of winning Tammy's heart. When he asked her out by signing in ASL, Tammy asked why he learned sign language. David replied, "So I can date you."
Tammy and David built a life together based on the principals of their Christian faith, hard-work ethic, and dedication to the service of individuals with disabilities within their local community. They raised four wonderful children together: Amber, Newton, Kate, and Caleb. David also leaves behind a son, Quentin, from a previous marriage, whom he is especially proud of. He is also loved and remebered by family, the individuals who's lives they've impacted in the community, and the many friends he and Tammy have made together.
Upon retiring from the Army, David once again sought to serve others. Together, he and Tammy passionately devoted 20 years of their lives working for a non-profit organization that was focused on providing interpreting services to those with hearing impairments. While working together, they helped the organization develop and expand to provide additional services to assist individuals with other types of disabilities so that they may live more independent lives within the community. Despite the growth of the organization, the Board of Directors unexpectedly terminated Tammy and David last year. This simultaneous loss of both of their incomes took a massive toll on the Scholl's financial security. Despite these recent struggles, David, being one of the nicest, most caring, and genuine individuals I have ever met, never stopped smiling, and continued moving forward. Although challenged by age, hearing loss, and other health issues, David continued to defy these limitations by utilizing his charm and humorous wit to try to make a living selling RV's. David also continued raising money for soldiers and their families in their time of need through Wounded Warrior Project, as well as volunteer with the Lions Club and other charitable works benefiting the community.
To know David was to love him. I should know because I am "his other son." My name is Jeff, and that's how he always referred to me over the 17 years we've known each other. David and Tammy are two of my oldest and best friends. Now it is my mission to make sure that Tammy and their family bounce back to better times, despite Tammy losing her best friend, the love of her life. I know David would want that. That being said, the family cannot do it alone. That's why I'm asking for the help of the community, for the support of the many lives they've helped, and for their many friends to step up and help me help the Scholl family by donating either to this GoFundMe, or in person, whatever they can. Tammy needs our support more than ever. We cannot fail this mission. Please share this with everyone you know. Lets help ease their financial burden so they can focus on healing emotionally.
