It is with a heavy heart that I share some very sad news regarding 2 close friends of mine, Cath and her husband Jim, who I also work with at HMP Swansea. Cath & Jim’s son Daniel has sadly been battling cancer over the last few years. Throughout this incredibly difficult journey, Daniel has put up an exceptionally brave and strong fight. Unfortunately, on Friday the 30th of January, Daniel sadly lost his battle. To make this even more tragic, Daniel’s fiancé, Chelsea, is currently pregnant with their first child, a baby girl.

In honour of Daniel, I will be running the Cardiff Summer 10k in Bute Park on Saturday 6th June at 9am and will gift all the money raised toward the needs of Daniel’s miracle baby. By contributing to this collection, we can provide a small measure of security for Chelsea and the baby during this difficult time. As a father of 2 girls myself, this cause means a lot to me. I have known Cath, Jim and their family for a long time, prior to my 10 years’ at HMP Swansea, and this is something I feel obligated to do given such a sad cause.

Cath, Jim, and their entire family are in my thoughts during this unimaginably difficult time. Can all my friends, family and work colleagues please all pull together to show our support and do something meaningful in Daniel’s honour.
