A family in need of a helping hand

My name is Marissa and I am raising funds for a colleague and her family. On 1/25/23 Bryant was admitted to KU med for low white blood count. On 1/27/23 he was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. AML is a type of aggressive fast-moving cancer of the blood and bone marrow with an excess of immature white blood cells. Bryant is currently still in the KU Med receiving treatment. Casey has taken a leave of absence from her teaching job with KCPS to help take care of the love of her life. They have gone from being a two-paycheck household to having no income beyond savings. Their savings are dwindling quickly with the medical and house deductibles and expenses. In addition, after Bryant's diagnosis, they decided to have their house deep cleaned so that Bryant could have a healthy place to go home to when he is released. As part of the cleaning, the refrigerator was pulled out revealing a water leak from the hose leading to the ice machine. There was obvious water damage and mold growth. The Insurance company came out and an emergency mold remediation team was called out because the mold was extensive throughout the dining room and kitchen area. They found additional mold in a utility closet against the bathroom wall and into the flooring, requiring new floors and walls, which the insurance company will not pay for. Bryant is immunocompromised and cannot come home to a mold-infested home. Casey is running between home and the hospital daily trying to balance out their new life. Bryant is the kindest, most loving, caring soul. If you know him you know he loves to tell “bad” dad jokes. Bryant’s passions are music and building. He loves his kids, his wife and his family endlessly. Bryant and Casey are a hard-working couple that has hit a rough spot in life. They strongly believe in their family and friends prayers and ask if nothing else please continue to pray for Bryant’s full healing, his children, and his family.
