The Fabulous Flocks Ride Again

Donation protected
A teenager in 1920s Alabama risks everything to save his daredevil family by running moonshine for his bootleg kingpin Uncle in Atlanta.

The Fabulous Flocks is a short film about a working class family who come together after their father's death and inadvertently is at the forefront of one of the greatest American Sports...NASCAR!

Goal

We have raised over $20,000 (not including in-kind donations) for our project via a swanky party at Uncle Peachtree's house (thanks to the current owners), a crowdfunding campaign, and a table read in December 2024. Thank you to everyone who has supported us, whether it be financially or otherwise. This has been a community effort and we feel the love.

The first scene we shot on June 22nd was the biggest and most expensive-- a race scene at a real life racetrack, with reproduction cars and a large crowd.

In order to meet our goal of $25,000 and to continue filming the rest of our movie at the end of May, we will raise $5,000 on Go Fund Me between now and April 30th.

Short Summary

Our short film begins in 1955 with Tim Flock winning the NASCAR Championship. Victory!

As he recounts to a reporter, we are transported back to 1924 when he was a baby at his mechanic father’s funeral in Ft. Payne, Alabama.

The family of 8 daredevil children scramble to earn money the best way they can. Sister Irene struggles to take over her father's auto-repair business because of the fact she is a girl. Sister Reo runs away to become a wing walker and aerial stunt woman. As a last resort, Tim’s mother reluctantly sends her eldest son, Carl, to work for her brother, Leonard "Peachtree" Williams, who runs moonshine operations for the whole Southeast.

We watch as Carl becomes a successful moonshine runner for Uncle Peachtree, driving fast cars and evading the law. Using his mechanical skills he learned from his late father and drawing inspiration from his daring sisters, Carl makes a name for himself and soon earns enough money to support his brothers and sisters.

Tim says, without his family he would not be receiving the trophy that day in 1955.

It's Personal

Filmmaker Jeff Kaminski grew up hearing tales and anecdotes about his NASCAR founding family ever since he can remember.

Jeff's Great Great Grand Uncle is Tim Flock, NASCAR hall of fame and 2-time champion.

Fun fact-- Jeff has the exact same sized hand and foot print as Tim! Here he is outside of Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Tim's older brothers are also legendary and record holders to this day!

Ethel Flock was the second woman driver ever and even beat her three brothers at Daytona in 1949. To this day, The Flocks remain the only family in NASCAR history to have 4 of it's members in a race together.

Did we mention the monkey? Tim also raced with a rhesus monkey named Jocko Flocko.

Not only were The Flock Family great drivers, but they were showmen (and women) who weren't afraid to entertain a crowd. In other words, they truly were Fabulous.

What We Need

Help husband and wife team Jeff and Allegra finish their short film about the origin's of Jeff's family.

The Impact

The fact is, without us, this story will probably never be told on the big screen. By making this short film, our mission is to promote and preserve a part of stock car racing history for future generations. Something that Jeff and Allegra are incredibly passionate about.

With The Fabulous Flocks, we have built a generous and supportive community that believes in us and our project. It has been an incredibly fun and rewarding journey, and truly could not have done it without them.

More than any other project we have created, this story has hit a chord with a large group of people. Everyone can agree that The Fabulous Flocks is a story that deserves to be told. Now it is time to FINISH our short film and deliver a product that can be shown at top tier film festivals around the country and the world-- lighting the same excitement that has inspired our fans to a potentially bigger audience.

So JOIN US in raising our last $5,000 and bringing this story to life.

Please give to our crowdfunding campaign and help us finish our exciting short film about the early days of NASCAR.
