The Eyrick Family
Donation protected
We are setting up this Go Fund Me on behalf of our dear friend, Lauren Eyrick. Lauren, at the current age of 35, has suffered from the symptoms of chronic Crohns Disease for over 17 years now. She has endured many surgeries removing several parts of her intestine and eventually her colon, throughout this time. As a result, she is no longer able to absorb nutrients through food intake and needs daily TPN. The mediport used in receiving her TPN has caused an infection that turned septic on several occasions over the past two years, resulting in pulmonary embolisms and extensive hospital stays in the ICU at Buffalo General Hospital. Most recently, she became septic from two separate infections while on a family vacation and had to be air lifted to Tufts Medical Center in Boston, where she developed double pneumonia, fluid in her lungs, and a fungus in her blood, on top of the sepsis infections. After several years of insurance battles, she has only recently begun working with Cleveland Clinic to find alternative options from living on TPN, thus avoiding these infections, and improving her quality of life. After things became critical most recently at Tufts Medical Center, Cleveland Clinic has determined that pro-longing surgery any longer poses severe risk. She will be headed to Cleveland next week for testing to determine which of two intestinal lengthening surgeries is best for her. Hoping all goes well, she will be having surgery on 9/24/20 and spending the next 2-3 weeks recovering inpatient. She will then remain in Cleveland outpatient until she is cleared to return home. On the chance that her testing determines that neither of these surgeries could be effective, she will be put immediately on the transplant list and most likely remain in Cleveland until a donor becomes available. Either way, even with her insurance, the hospital bills will be extreme, as well as expenses for family to travel and stay in Cleveland to provide the emotional support she needs to get through this. Lauren has 3 beautiful children at home as well as a loving husband working hard to keep the family going. We have already received an outpouring of help and support from our meal-train, as she has been home from Boston re-gaining her strength to travel to Cleveland. The meal-train remains active as she heads to Cleveland, but at this point, we need more support and assistance financially to help this amazing person and family get through this. Thank you so much for your consideration to help our dear friend!
