Dear Friends,
THANK YOU to EVERYONE who has supported the Evered House… because of you, we were able to accomplish our initial fundraising goal— enabling us to put a down payment on the residency house. Our first year was spent readying the house for occupancy, working on the grounds and furnishing the rooms. During our second year, we hosted our first residents: a non-fiction writer who completed her memoir, documenting the time her family spent living in Uganda; a former navy cryptologist, who is a talented ceramist; and a Vietnam veteran who was a recipient of two Purple Hearts and is now a playwright. Our third year, interrupted by the Covid19 pandemic, has been dedicated to constructing an outdoor performance stage and continuing improvements on the house. Our fourth year will commence in January of 2021, when we will host our next group of residents. Our fund raising campaign is concentrating on raising funds to pay off our $135,000 mortgage, which would allow us to free up and utilize funds exclusively for operational expenses and programming for the residency. The Evered House was founded in 2017 by Charles B. Evered in honor of his father, Charles J. Evered, who was a veteran of World War II.
THE EVERED HOUSE is an artist residency specifically for artists who are military veterans, first responders and individuals who serve in conflict zones, such as war reporters and combat photographers.
The property is located in Flamingo Heights, California, near the world renowned Joshua Tree National Park.
The Evered House hosts artists of all kinds—writers, photographers, fine artists, performing artists and musicians.
The Evered House has already brought together an impressive group of successful artists and supporters (Mentor Board) that have agreed to work with residents in their chosen field — should they request such guidance. The Mentor Board has among its ranks best-selling authors, Emmy, Tony and other major award-winning working artists and arts related professionals that are willing to volunteer their time to mentor our veterans. Our notable group of mentors include Liev Schrieber, Bebe Neuwirth, Diane Paulus, Hal Linden, Austin Pendleton and many more.
Would you PLEASE consider donating to our program?
