The Escuela de Música de Santiago de Chiquitos
Donation protected
After three years of operating with insufficient funds to pay our teachers the music school in Santiago de Chiquitos has reached a crisis and needs your help to pay its teachers for the fiscal year 2023. The music school needs close to $1000 dollars a month to operate but receives only about the equivalent of $5700 a year from the local government to teach the more than 70 children and young people who benefit from music lessons in the school. The Jesuit Mission town of Santiago de Chiquitos is one of the few places in the world where you can hear the music written during the baroque Jesuit mission period more than 250 years ago played by the people for whom the music was written. This year we have 4 teachers, all of them local young people who received their training in the school who are owed salaries since October with little hope of financing from the local government. Please help us finish this year with a balanced budget so we can continue to offer the gift of musical training to these talented children in the tropical lowlands of Bolivia. If any musicians read this who are willing to come help teach choir or orchestra in our beautiful school situated in one of the most beautiful places in the world please contact me!
