Dear Friends and Family,
I will be putting on a memorial dance performance on June 15, 2019 to honor the life and legacy of my mom, Elena DelVecchio Rusnak, and to raise money for her scholarship fund, The Elena DelVecchio Rusnak Dance Education Scholarship Fund. This scholarship has awarded money to a college student in Connecticut majoring in dance education for the last 3 years. The money is paid directly to the student's university or college to assist with tuition costs. One of my mom's last wishes before her passing was for me to create this scholarship fund in her name, and to continue her legacy of dance education in Connecticut. This performance in June will feature dancers and choreographers that attended and graduated from the dance program at Naugatuck Valley Community College, the dance program my mom created from the ground up, and which flourished under her leadership.
There are many expenses related to this performance, including the rental of the Mainstage theater at NVCC, security, maintenance, stipends for professional dance companies and our tech crew. I'm raising money to help offset these costs and to ensure that all ticket sales from the show will go directly towards the scholarship fund. All money I spent thus far to acquire non-profit/tax exempt status has come out of my pocket. Any donation will help make an impact. Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
Please keep an eye out as we get closer to June for information on how to purchase tickets to the performance. It is going to be an incredible collaboration of artists in dance, martial arts, and visual media, and all for an amazing cause of helping fund dance education in our state!
