The Edwin L. Miller, Jr. Sculpture Relief Memorial

Tax deductible
The San Diego Deputy District Attorneys Foundation is a recognized 501(c)(3) (EIN 82-0781650). Our Foundation is proud to launch a campaign effort to dedicate a sculpture relief in memory of Edwin L. Miller, Jr. San Diego County District Attorney from 1971 until 1994.

We raised funds for the down payment and the memorial's creation is underway. We chose the local and renowned artist, Mary Buckman. Her work is showcased throughout the ground level in the Hall of Justice. Mr. Miller's bust relief will be installed next to the sculpture relief of District Attorney James Don Keller, who served from 1947 until 1970.  Below is just the beginning of her process:

Your assistance will help us keep Mr. Miller's legacy of "do the right thing" alive. We ask for your support by making a tax-deductible donation through this secure Go Fund Me / PayPal page or by sending a check payable to the SDDDAFoundation at PO Box 124945, San Diego, CA 92112-4945.

Thank you so much for your generosity.

Edwin L. Miller, Jr.
Civil Servant of the Highest Order

Edwin L. Miller, Jr. personified the San Diego County motto, "The noblest motive is the public good." His contributions to the justice system were not only a record of service but also of remarkable leadership.

Mr. Miller joined the San Diego City Attorneys office in the early 1960s and quickly rose to second in command as the Assistant City Attorney. In 1966, he was appointed as the first United States Attorney to serve in the Southern District of California headquartered in San Diego.

In 1970, Mr. Miller was elected District Attorney of San Diego County and would serve for 24-years. He was a leader and innovator, with integrity and the pursuit of justice always at the center of all his decisions. He gave no indulgence to power or association whether financial, political, governmental or personal acquaintance. A hallmark of his leadership
was developing the concept of career prosecution that he later furthered as president of the California District Attorneys Association and then as president of the National District Attorneys Association.

In 1983, President Reagan recognized Mr. Miller's prominence as a national leader by appointing him to the President’s Commission on Organized Crime. Mr. Miller was among the first and most ardent supporters of San Diego County’s development of the Hall of Justice.
