The Edgelands Run 2025

About the Appeal

At Storth School, we are more than just a school — we are a family.

Over the years, our family has grown from 28 pupils in 2014 to nearly 100 today. To continue offering the same exceptional care, attention, and education to every child, we urgently need to expand.

We have the perfect place: a new nursery space within the EYFS playground.

One new room. A whole generation of brighter futures.

But we can only make it happen with your support.
Please help us reach our target of £3,000 from this event, contributing towards the £20,000 needed to build the new classroom.

Every donation, every step, and every bit of participation in our fundraising events brings us closer to giving our children the space — and the future — they deserve.

Please support the Edgelands Run — and help us build a space where every child can thrive.

About the Run

This June, we invite you to be part of something truly special — an unforgettable journey that blends community, endurance, and a deep connection to our landscape.

The Edgelands Run is a 110-mile challenge on foot that traces the sweeping arc of Morecambe Bay. Starting in Fleetwood, Lancashire, and ending on Walney Island off the coast of Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, the route passes through some of the Bay’s most iconic and inspiring landscapes—places that shape the lives and stories of those who live and work around them.

This unique event was inspired by The Gathering Tide by Karen Lloyd, a Cumbrian author and environmentalist whose writing beautifully captures the spirit of the Bay — its people, wildlife, and ever-shifting seascapes. In her work's spirit, we are turning inspiration into action.

Back in September 2019, a dedicated team of teachers, parents, and friends of Storth School completed the full 110 miles in under 22 hours — all to help fund a much-needed new classroom.

Now, in June, we return — this time, with an exciting twist.

We’ll begin at both ends of the Bay — one team setting off from Fleetwood, the other from Walney Island — and relay our way back to Storth School.
Along the route, children will join in at various points, running the final stretches with the teams. Together, we’ll finish with a joyful, celebratory lap of the school field — united as one community.

The route will again be split into legs, some over 20 miles for experienced runners, and others shorter and more accessible, taken on by first-time runners stepping up for a cause they believe in.
Each team will be united by shared determination and belief in the power of education, community, and opportunity.

We’re asking for your support.

Please consider sponsoring the runners and contributing to this remarkable effort. Every donation brings us closer to our goal of building a new classroom — a space that will nurture learning, creativity, and growth for a generation of children.

Together, we can go the distance.

With heartfelt thanks,
