UPDATE:

Thank you everyone for the outpouring love and support for the Eakins family. I am sorry to update we lost Ed Saturday morning 5/20/23. The future is unsure but is clear the family will still require our support and love while they navigate this great loss. We will release information about the upcoming family service and memorial that will be open to the community.

I am creating this Gofundme for my best friend Justine Eakins and her amazing parents. I am heartbroken to share that her father Ed has been in a coma for about a week now. To give the family privacy I am going to refrain from sharing details of his health at this time, but will post updates about his condition if/when they are ready. I will say it is looking like no matter what this is going to be a long road for her family- including her sweet mother Tammy, Justine herself, her brother Garrett, as well as her youngest daughter Audra.

If you know this family you know they are the type of parents who treat everyone like their own kids and will give the shirt off their back to help anyone.

I know for me her father helped me learn to work on my car and even do my own oil changes, without them bringing me on a family road trip to Yosemite I would of never worked in a National Park or been able to experience rehabilitation through nature. I'm sure a lot of people who have met this family have similar stories of how they have treated them like their own and opened their homes and hearts to many.

Please consider doing whatever you can to help with medical cost and all the expenses that come with a crisis like this where the main provider of the family is no longer able to be there. ANYTHING helps and they are so grateful for all the support and love that people have for them. Please share your own stories of how they have impacted you if you're comfortable to help remind them how cherished they are in our community. It is personally overwhelming to see such a kind family go through something so unfair and so unexpected so thank you for reading through my ramble as I try to find the words to express my concern.
