On November 21, 2022, Kyle’s birthday, found out that he had a large brain tumor. The following day Kyle underwent surgery at Loma Linda University Medical Center for tumor removal. The biopsy results showed that the tumor is cancerous. The surgeon determined that it would be unsafe for him to remove certain parts of the tumor because it would be detrimental to Kyle’s overall health/function. He recommended radiation & chemotherapy.

Kyle has healed well from his surgery. Vanessa was able to take care of him but had to take a month unpaid Leave of Absence. 

As of now, Kyle has started radiation & chemotherapy at Kaiser Ontario. He is going in M-F for radiation treatments and takes Temodar daily as part of his chemotherapy regimen. His final treatment will occur right before Valentina’s 8th birthday.

Kyle is an apprentice lineman for the Edison Lake Arrowhead yard. Vanessa is a pediatric operating room nurse at Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC). She has been able to rely on family and friends to take Kyle to radiation treatments while she goes to work.
