The Duffy Bishop Band is proud and honored to have been chosen to represent The First Coast Blues Society (Jacksonville, FL) to participate in the 2020 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee.
We’re asking your help to get Duffy and the Band to Memphis.
Duffy Bishop and her Band been playing the Blues, collectively, for over 200 years! They love performing and bringing their original Blues music to people everywhere.
The powerhouse that is Duffy leads this Band of accomplished musicians with her full and throaty voice and her amazing stage presence. She somehow finds a way to personally connect with everyone in the audience when she sings her Blues - sometimes funny, sometimes quirky, sometimes heart-wrenching, but always honest.
Alex Richman, the Bands keyboardist, has a long and storied career having played and recorded with Ry Cooder and Danny O’Keefe. Alex is a great pianist and a mighty Hammond B3 player, as well as a fine vocalist.
Paul Unsworth, the Band’s drummer was born in NYC and played those environs with Blues greats like Moose and the Bulletproof Blues Band, Mick Taylor and Peter Karp. Paul is a shuffle master and an expert with brushes.
Richard Wright plays both the electric and upright bass for the Band. He grew up in Jacksonville and payed his dues traveling the country for many years with many bands. Besides being an excellent bassist, Richard is also a dedicated music teacher.
Chris Carlson, the guitarist, has been playing with Duffy for many, many years. As a matter of fact, he married Duffy. They’ve performed together all over the country and the world. Chris loves and plays all kinds of American music, and especially loves the Blues.
When not performing live, the Band is in the studio working on a new release, and now, getting ready for the IBC in Memphis!
The IBC is a five day event and the Band needs your help to cover their travel and lodging expenses for this trip of a lifetime. Your donation will go directly to costs of transportation, housing, food and necessities. The Band will be working hard to cover as much of the expenses as possible.
The Band appreciates all your support and donations to help them get the maximum out of this incredible journey. And whether they win or not, The Duffy Bishop Band promises to do their best and honorably represent The First Coast Blues Society!
