The Drawing Fundamentals Textbook

Aimed at beginning or intermediate art and design students, The Drawing Fundamentals Textbookwill be a lavishly illustrated publication with examples from OCADU’s alumni and students, providing step-by-step methods on the fundamentals of drawing. Utilizing input from a diverse group of drawing instructors, students, as well as practicing artists, it will be a rich source of information, covering topics such as gesture and contour drawing, along with techniques for shading and texture creation among others.
 
This project is being initiated by awarding winning author and educator (Glenn McArthur) to address shortfalls within drawing programs, so that no student is deprived of essential information to further their artistic development.
 
We are reaching out for support in order to cover and pay for the image copyright fee of the numerous artists and students who have contributed their drawings to this publication.
 
There are two ways to contribute: one is directing your funds to a specific artist or student in order to pay for their image copyright fee ($75 average) or by simply giving a donation to the overall publication in order to create a dedicated website for the digital book. The website and ebook will be made available free of charge to OCADU’s students, instructors and donors.
 
All donors will have the option of having their name accredited alongside the artist they wish to support. The credit would appear just below the artist’s name, which will read: Image courtesy of (your name).If you wish to be anonymous with your donation that can be arranged as well. Should you wish to support the overall publication your name will appear on a donors’ list in addition to having free access to the ebook.
 
With your help, this publication can become an important resource to further any student’s art education and pay contributing artists for their work in illustrating key concepts in the text.
