What is The Dragonfly Lounge?

The Dragonfly Lounge: A vibrant drag and LGBTQ+ venue fostering talent, inclusivity, and support. Join us in creating a safe space for all!

Located in the heart of Colchester’s city centre, The Dragonfly Lounge will be a brand new LGBTQ+ focussed venue providing a space for the community to meet, express themselves, and feel welcomed. Colchester has a thriving LGBTQ+ community, but currently lacks a dedicated bar/club. The Dragonfly Lounge aims to fill that gap with an exciting, inclusive space that offers high quality drinks, activities, club nights and cabaret shows!

Whilst our venue is primarily created for and with the LGBTQ+ community, all people are welcome in our space provided you behave in accordance with our one rule: Be kind and take care of each other!

Performances, Projects and Activities

The Dragonfly Lounge will offer a variety of entertainment and activities, including:

-Weekly cabaret shows featuring the best local talent!

-New talent nights offering opportunities to new artists

-Artist residencies

-Club nights where you can dance the night away in a safe environment

-Regular activities like bingo, quiz nights, viewing parties

-Drag Afternoon Tea

-A space for local charities/groups to meet and host events

-A space to learn via our drag courses which we hope to launch within the first year.

How you can help

We need your help to furnish our gorgeous new space. We have a large venue including the main cabaret/club space, bar area and chill out space, all of which will be fully accessible. We need additional funding to help with furniture, paint, decor etc. Any help you can give us will be a huge help!

If you donate £100 or more we'll give you 2 tickets for one of our fabulous drag afternoon teas

If you donate £1000 or more you can enjoy a night out with us! A table for 4 people at a cabaret show, plus four dragonfly t-shirts.
