The Donna Tessitore Rescue and Trauma Center

Donna Tessitore, full of strength and goodness, was a zealous advocate for animal protection as District Leader Volunteer for the Humane Society of the U.S. She courageously fought an incurable form of cancer over four years, and on March 7th, 2020, a truly innocent soul passed on and Heaven gained another angel.

 

Donna left a mark of her love on everyone she interacted with and brought joy to those she met along the way here on earth. She impacted everyone who crossed her path and leaves a legacy that benefits both people and animals alike.

 

She was most passionate about animal rights and her exceptional leadership in advancing public policy for all animals changed many lives. Donna combined her passion for people and pets in supporting "Steps to Cure Sarcoma" to further research Sarcoma in both humans and animals. In partnership with the Lehigh County Humane Society, we are building a new Rescue Trauma Center in Donna's name. This building will ensure her kindness, compassion, and spirit for all animals will live on for eternity.

 

LCHS is a local rescue that saves lives, with the goal of keeping animals from becoming homeless in the first place, and to prevent illness before it occurs. By breaking down the financial barriers to owning a pet, LCHS will break the cycle of lack of animal care resources that result in abandoned, malnourished, neglected, and surrendered animals.

 

We have cried our tears and mourned our loss. Now we give with grieving hearts relief by coming together to celebrate all the wonder that was Donna. Help us build the Donna Tessitore Rescue and Trauma Center.

 

Together, we can ensure that she lives on through the lives of animals that are rescued and rehabilitated here in the Lehigh Valley. Donna's new building will include 90 state of the art dog kennels, a grooming area, and an entrance where stray and/or abandoned animals can be dropped off safely by Animal Control authorities from the surrounding municipalities. Animals will be loved, fed and provided with quality veterinary medicine by the LCHS Veterinarian and medical team.

 

Donna was a warrior for change in this world. She wanted to make it better place for those who cannot advocate for themselves. We are capturing the depth of her impact by creating a beautiful memorial wall for her, where her legacy will live on.

 

A contribution over $200 will be acknowledged with your name on Donna's memorial wall in the new building. Construction has begun and is scheduled to be completed in October 2022. You will be invited to the ribbon cutting ceremony, where you can be one of the first to see a memorial like no others.
