UPDATE — THIS IS OUR VET BILL
Yesterday, we told you that AB Veterinary treated the two puppies from Vlora on credit, because we simply didn’t have the money to pay.
Here is the bill.
11,800 ALL — around €128 — for just these two puppies.
This covers their hospitalisation, anaesthesia and treatment.
And this is just one veterinary bill from one rescue.
We are incredibly grateful to Dr Ariel for helping them when we had nothing left to pay with. But the reality is that the bills don’t disappear when we rescue a dog.
Someone has to pay them.
We rescue dogs from the streets, find them somewhere safe, feed them, vaccinate them and get them the medical treatment they need. Every rescue comes with new costs.
So please, if you can help, even €5 makes a difference.
100 people × €5 = €500.
That could cover veterinary treatment, food and vaccinations for the dogs we are trying to save.
We are not asking one person to finance everything.
We are asking many people to do a little.
Because rescuing a dog doesn’t end when we take them off the street.
That’s when our responsibility begins. ❤️
We are a small group of people brought together by our love for animals and by the belief that we can no longer stand by and watch what is happening to stray dogs in Albania.
The situation is truly heartbreaking.
Every day, we see dogs and puppies living on the streets who are hungry, sick, injured, abandoned or simply left to fend for themselves. Many of them have no one to help them. They are hit by cars, die from illness or starvation, and sadly, the poisoning and killing of stray animals is still far too common.
We don't want to simply talk about it.
We want to change it.
But we also know that real change will not happen overnight.
That is why, in September and October, we are planning to launch a larger educational project aimed at children, young people and local communities. We want to talk about empathy, responsible animal ownership, spaying and neutering, proper care, and the simple fact that a dog is not a problem to be removed, but a living being whose life and wellbeing matter.
We need to change attitudes from within.
We need to teach the next generation that animals feel, suffer and deserve kindness and respect.
But education takes time.
It may take months or even years before we see real, visible change. Meanwhile, the dogs living on the streets today cannot wait.
That is why we want to act now.
Our first goal is to create a safe temporary place for rescued dogs — somewhere we can take the animals who need help the most instead of leaving them exposed and vulnerable on the streets.
We want to provide them with food, water, shelter and daily care. We also need funds for veterinary treatment, vaccinations, parasite prevention, microchips, spaying and neutering, medical tests and the necessary documentation.
For dogs who do not have a realistic chance of finding a safe life locally, we will look for responsible adoptive families in Poland and other European countries and prepare them for legal transport to their new homes.
This will not be easy.
Maintaining a safe place for rescued animals costs money. Food, veterinary care, medication, equipment, kennels, documentation and transport are expenses that we simply cannot cover on our own.
That is why we are asking for your help.
We are not starting this fundraiser simply to rescue a few dogs for a short time.
We want to build something that will allow us to rescue dogs consistently while also working towards a future where fewer animals need rescuing at all.
We want to work on two levels:
Rescue them now. Change the future.
Every rescued dog will have their own story.
We will share updates, photographs and information about their treatment and progress, so that you can see how your support is making a difference and where the money raised is going.
We cannot save every dog.
But we can save the one we meet today.
We can take them off the street before they are hit by a car.
We can treat them when they are sick.
We can feed them when they have been hungry for days.
We can give them a safe place to stay while we search for a real home.
Because to us, these dogs are not simply “stray animals.”
They are individual lives.
If you can, please help us protect them.
Every donation, no matter how small, brings us closer to creating a safe place and saving another dog.
And if you cannot donate, please share this fundraiser.
Your share could help us reach someone who can make the difference between life and death for an animal.
The Dog Revolution starts with one dog. And then another. ❤️
Our hope is that one day, we will no longer need to rescue dogs from the streets.
But until that day comes, we have to do everything we can to keep them alive and safe while Albania changes.
