Meet my wonderful mother, Debra. She is a vibrant, resilient, beautiful woman with a beautiful soul. During the pandemic, she experienced arterial calcification blockage, which resulted in an above the knee amputation of both her legs. Already dealing with kidney failure/dialysis three times a week, she faced this challenge head on. Going into the hospital and rehab for over a year during a time when visitation from family and friends was forbidden. After contracting Covid she was placed in the ICU, and thankfully came out on the other end of that as well.

Now facing trillion dollar cuts in Medicaid under this new administration she has lost her Medicaid disability coverage. Her medical bills are piling up, her life-sustaining prescriptions now require out of pocket co-pays and her three times a week transportation to and from dialysis is now at risk.

My mommy & I have taken on and overcome these challenges over the past years. Maintaining her health needs in this economy, under this administration has become heavier than ever. We have decided to put pride aside and tell my mother’s story through reaching out. With the hopes that some of the love, strength and resilience that she’s put into the world will come back to her.
