Hi, I am taking part in the Dublin marathon on October 26th 2025 to help raise funds for a charity which helps children with rare muscular diseases.
In March this year we were giving the most devastating news a family can receive for our son Eden. Eden was diagnosed with a rare form of muscular dystrophy (limb girdle muscular dystrophy / LGMD2C/R5). This is a devastating and debilitating disease which leads to progressive muscle wasting and over time lead to total loss of ambulation usually before adulthood.
It’s very difficult as a parent to write this considering Eden was born a perfectly healthy child. Eden loves football and still plays with his local football team, he was in his local Brazilian jiu jitsu academy but had to be taking out due to his condition.
We hope by raising funds for The Dion Foundation that we can help fund research and clinical trials for this condition of which there are no approved treatments and help children like Eden have a brighter future.
Thank you,
David.
