Hi! I'm Taylor, and I have created a go fund me on behalf of the Diep family. I am raising money in hopes of relieving some financial stress from Nic and Whitney. Nic is a welder and Whitney is an RN at Trinity Health Muskegon. Together they are raising 6 beautiful children. They introduced sweet little twin boys into the world on August 12th and unfortunatly Baby A has had some complications. This money will help with medical bills, groceries, gas, etc. Nic has been taking several days off of work so that he can be home with their other 5 children while Whitney is at Helen Devos with Kai.
On August 12th Nic and Whitney welcomed twin boys Kai and Knox into the world. Shortly after birth, Kai began having trouble with feeding and gaining weight. After a few day's stay at Helen Devos, Whitney and Nic were informed that Kai had a large juvenile polyp in his duodenum that was obstructing his bowels. He was sent home on frequent small feedings with the intention of surgery around 3 months old. Unfortuanlty he continued to have issues with vomiting and weight loss at home. On September 1st, Kai was readmitted to Helen Devos after a weight check revealed that he was continuing to lose too much weight. Kai had an NJ tube placed and was discharged home a few days later with tube feedings. He began to gain weight and had an encouraging appointment with his surgeon on September 21st to discuss the removal of the polyp once Kai was 11 pounds. Unfortunately, on 9/26 Kai began to have bloody stools. After a few blood draws revealing low hemoglobin, he was admitted back to Helen Devos. On 9/29 he did have a blood transfusion, and it was decided that he would need surgery to remove the polyp as it was causing bleeding. On 9/30 he was taken to surgery at only 7 weeks old and the entire polyp was removed. Kai now has a long recovery ahead. He currently has a G tube and drain. He will be getting a PICC line on Monday to help with nutrition as the surgeon would like his bowels to rest and heal before attempting to feed him again. They are looking at another few weeks at Helen Devos until Kai is strong enough to go home. While I know that Whitney and Nic would never ask for help, they deserve it!
