Medical Expenses for Isaiah Thomas

The Devil Tried To Step On Me, But I Blew Up Like A Mine.

Isaiah Thomas, 27 years old, is from Acres Homes in Houston, Texas. He is a HS graduate from Aldine and attended Seminole, Southeastern Illinois, Wiley College, and East Texas Baptist University. He is a professional basketball player, in overseas leagues and a personal trainer. He loves God, working with youth, and has a heart for helping people. I have summed this story up as short as possible to make you aware of Isaiah's high expectancy of God’s manifestation. I apologize in advance for his friends and loved ones to receive this news this way, but Isaiah’s phone was destroyed.
The journey begins on August 16, 2020, Isaiah was playing basketball at a local gym when he encountered knee to knee contact with another player. He took a quick break and played another game because that is the love he has for the game. Isaiah became concerned later that night after he showered, relaxed, then found it hard to get comfortable in bed and to walk. The next morning Isaiah was in a lot of pain and decided to get himself evaluated at an Urgent Care facility only to be turned away with negative X Ray and CAT scan results.
As another day went by, Isaiah was in so much pain, he couldn’t get out of bed for any reason so we called an ambulance to take him to get checked at our local emergency room. Isaiah went to the ER in an ambulance and as I stepped in to check on him, Isaiah was in the waiting area with everyone else. To social distance and keep from crowding the waiting room in light of the pandemic, I told Isaiah to call me on the phone while I waited outside. By the time I got to my truck, he called and said the Nurse Practitioner was discharging him without being seen (no evaluation just the notes from EMS).  After protesting, Isaiah was seen immediately. The CAT scan showed abnormal results that NO ONE in the ER could explain, so he was admitted and kept for several days. Isaiah contracted a bacteria called streptococcus. In milder cases, this is strep throat. This infection entered his body a few months prior while playing ball overseas through a cut on his back. With the right diagnosis and medication, Isaiah left the hospital within 6 days with an ongoing IV still in his arm for a remaining 6 weeks, with weekly nurse visits. After the IV was removed, Isaiah took it slow and steady to regain his health, weight, and picked up his old training clients.
On November 13, 2020, Isaiah’s last post on Facebook “Yahweh You did this!!! I did not!”. He was rejoicing for a launching of an opportunity that’s been in the works a long time. He is always giving God the praise and is passionate about everything he does. That night, Isaiah came to visit me (Mom) and left early on the next morning for that important business meeting. I went to make sure he was awake, and Isaiah had already left. So, I started blowing up his phone getting no answer then the phone just stopped ringing as though he turned it off. I then texted him to see if he made it to his destination and that went unanswered. I called my mom who lives 8 miles at the top of the road that leads into my neighborhood, to see how she was feeling, as she is currently battling COVID-19. Mom stated she was looking out her front door onto the highway at a bad accident. “Baby whoever was in that car has got to be dead”. I asked what color was the car because I haven’t been able to reach Isaiah for over an hour and she said it was a black car! I jumped in my truck to go check, but the car was unrecognizable. She said whoever was in that black car is already on their way to the hospital. When I arrived, I saw the heavy traffic and the emergency responders were trying to detour me, I told myself nope, that’s not my sons’ vehicle and turned back. I returned home in time for online class and an unidentified phone call. Thinking Isaiah’s phone may have died, I answered the call. “Hello, this is David at Kingwood Emergency Room. May I ask who I am speaking with?” I gave him my name and he asked if I knew Isaiah Thomas? Of course, I am his mother. “Ma’am, I am sorry to inform you that Isaiah was in a serious accident and we need verbal consent to perform emergency surgery, do we have it?” Of course I said, “Yes, please do whatever you need to do to help my son.”  As my dad drove me to the hospital, I received a call from the doctor performing the surgery and listened attentively as he delivered his observation of what needed to happen. “Ms. Punch, Isaiah injuries are severe, and we need to operate immediately. Isaiah’s spine is severed, we need to insert some hardware in order to fuse it together, both lungs collapsed, he has multiple broken ribs, and his face is fractured. The MRI shows this is permanent damage and we are doing this surgery only to make him comfortable because he will not walk again. (We reject that) I made it to the hospital moments before surgery and Isaiah said firmly, “Momma, the devil tried to kill me!” I told him (he was looking at me and I him) so what the devil meant for evil God has turned it around for our good. Isaiah will walk again.  Sit back and Watch It Pay Off!
I am sharing this information because we need the prayers of the righteous, as well as financial assistance. Isaiah is going to need to be transferred to Houston Medical Center (TIRR), he needs stem cells, and approvals on all levels to be expedited. We are a family of Believers and we’re believing God to do supernatural healing and restoration for Isaiah. We serve a BIG God, there is nothing too hard for Him, and we’re asking Him to show Himself strong in this situation. With Him all things are possible and we all, including Isaiah, are believing this. We’ve witnessed Isaiah display tremendous strength and self-discipline. Isaiah has always believed that it’s mind over matter, and if you will IT, IT shall come to pass. This is the real test of faith, but WE BELIEVE AND DO NOT DOUBT! We have a great support system and body of believers. My son is now in excruciating pain.  We need resources to ensure the best medical care for him.  Please help us with getting Isaiah the help he needs. Thank you in advance for your donation.
