The DeShay Foundation

Hello, I am Ron DeShay. For those who know me, you know that I believe in passionately pursuing my dreams in the entertainment industry. This year I will be launching The DeShay Foundation. This endowment is being created for aspiring students of business, television, film and the performing arts. I wanted to create opportunities to allow students to pursue their dreams in these specific areas more readily. The launch of an endowment that carries my family's name is rooted in the legacy my ancestors established in education.

As a child, I remember weekly visits to some of the first schools in rural central Texas for African-Americans, which were started and run by my family. That legacy has carried for over a century and still lives on today with many family members, siblings included. Before the official launch in October of this year, I wanted to allow family and friends to be a part of the foundations of this new organization.

Annually, The DeShay Foundation will give Impact Scholarships to several deserving students.

Additionally, The DeShay Foundation will also award the Better World Scholar Award on behalf of myself. This scholarship will benefit student leaders who demonstrate a commitment to uniting their peers within local society. These receiving students must demonstrate leadership through initiatives and ideas that emphasize finding ways of making the world a better place for everyone. I am asking family and friends to consider being a part of the start of this vital cause.
