Denali is an important person in our lives and not only did we develop a close working relationship and friendship, she helped deliver happiness to so many kids and families all over the Bay Area in 2020 and prior to the world shutting down.
Prior to Covid-19, Denali portrayed characters and assisted in events from princess and superhero characters to face painting and assisting at events as event staff. In 2020, she was a pivotal part of our success in Lawn Visits and helped our business stay afloat amidst the shutdown by offering one-of-a-kind visits to kids and families in need of a little joy in their lives during the pandemic.
In 2021, Denali's health started to fade and she has lost a lot of her quality of life in terms of normal activities a young women would be able to enjoy and most recently spent her 21st birthday mostly alone and at home with her mom and grandparents. She is struggling daily to keep herself healthy as she is in need of friendship and support from anyone able to help. She does not want to highlight her disease and wants to maintain her privacy as we her friends and family try to find the support system she needs.
Carrie is Denali's mom and she has taken a lot of time off of work to take care of Denali. Denali is now in a position where she needs 24hr. care. Carrie has been home full time now on Paid Family Leave and will no longer have a job after December. Carrie is the only financial support for their household of two. She has spent over $7,000 on medical bills and in trying getting a clear diagnosis. Carrie will need more funds to pay for medical bills, rent, food, and cost of living.
This situation is waring on both of them emotionally, mentally, and financially.
