The day it all changed

Hello, my name is Bridget better known as Bid or B...May 5th 2023 was the day everything changed for me. I was feeling unwell, had been feeling 'odd' for a while but just put it down to age, life, and stress. I was in spains costa del sol for a break. 5th May 2023 was the day I realised it was more than that. I woke early hours of the morning finding my left arm wouldn't function at all, my left leg was sporadically shaking and later I had a seizure which I only partially recall. I was rushed to costa del sol hospital where I was seen immediately and after a quick examination I was rushed straight for CT and MRI scans. I remember there was a very kind nurse who spoke a little English, she held my hand the whole time. She made me feel safe. I was told along with my husband and family members that I had a Brain tumour, and it needed to come out, I couldn't go home and was admitted there until a bed came available at Malaga Hospital. I spent 3 weeks in costa del sol hospital before being transferred to malaga hospital. The staff were extremely kind! Once I met my neurosurgeon Mr Cabrera we were informed the tumour was 5.5cm and was growing on the main brain stem. The operation was planned for 24th May. It was a difficult operation due to its position. But I had every faith in Mr Cabrera. He made me feel completely at ease and although he cut me from ear to ear, and used 74 staples across my head, he managed to save most of my hair! The kindness and support I received in a foreign country was second to non. Mr cabrera saved my life, there is no other words to describe this life changing event. I'm recovering well and I have so much to be thankful for! My lovely husband and beautiful children, grandchildren, mum, sister and the rest of my family and friends support was crucial to my mental wellbeing! I would like to do some fundraising for Malaga Hospital, to present to Mr Cabrera and the neuro team in thanks for everything myself my sons Jake Sam and Son in law Simon will all be parachute jumping later this year, date to be confirmed! I'm absolutely petrified and will probably need a push haha but I want to give back so I will be doing this, we all will. Thank you for reading and thank you for any donations received. I will update accordingly with date of jump etc. One thing this experience has taught me is to be thankful for this beautiful life, and cherish the ones you love ❤️ B xxxx please note some graphic images below
